Back From the Dead

After a long while of inactivity and internet lurking, here I am back again after discovering an android app made by Google themselves aptly called, Blogger. Go figure~

There is a lot going on in betweeb now and the previous post. One of which...

Yay! I got a job now.

Does that mean I have a life now? xD

I'll *try* to keep this blog updated from time to time, especially while waiting for the next task in my job. So adios before my boss comes around admiring my intricatedly made "pie chart"~

The Journey to Audio Enlightment

Surrounded with gadgets as I am now, its been a while since I write anything here. Been busy, been bored and somehow I forgot that I have a blog to write...

On one sunny day, the day in which I just had my lunch and was on the way back to the warm company of the office, I passed by the AV Electronic Shop at Kiulap and had an urge to go inside. A few days before this I had a thought of getting myself a 64GB iPod Touch. Perhaps that was the main purpose, or so I thought back then. While inside, I went over the headphone section and saw a Sennheiser HD 428 among the stack of big guys such as Beats Solo HD by Dr. Dre. I went over the iMac, and purposely made use of the internet over there to search for reviews regarding the Sennheiser headphone. All I see were good positive review, stating it as one of the best entry level equipment in the market. That sold me, albeit a bit, as it was a tad lower than the model series I was looking for (HD 500/600 series).

HD 428 in its finest~

All that brought me quite near to the end of the lunch break limit as I quickly brought it over the office. The bag it was in attracted much attention as the iPhone 4 rage was still around, which quickly diminish as I pulled it out to use on my workstation. Working my way through the cables, searching for my all time favorite "Moon Over the Castle" from Gran Turismo 2 soundtrack, I put on the headphone and awaits the legendary audio quality associated with Sennheiser headphones as I click on the play button on my Winamp...

My first impression? It disappoints me. Really, it felt like it was covered by something, underpowered perhaps. The bass was quite muddy too. I made endless comparison between the sounds produced by the new headphone with my current Razer m250, where the clarity was better in its audio reproduction. And so I emailed a friend of mine expert in this hi-fi stuffs as he was studying abroad in UK.

According to him, the Senn headphone need some time to set in and may need amplifier to work well. If all else fails, he told me to just sell it and get a headphone leaning more on the bass. And so, begins my journey towards improving my Sennheiser phone. I left it playing my playlist after 3 days and 3 nights and notice that the veil sound was reduced a lot. I left it playing for a few more days and that veil was gone completely. From this point on, I'm liking the phone, too bad I can't really bring it around too much due to the flimsy feeling of its construction.

I played Left 4 Dead 2 with it last night with this on instead of the speakers like I used to. I'm amazed by the sound quality, or should I say, the excellent sound stage provided by the headphone. I could tell the direction of the special infected zombies precisely with sound alone. I'm wondering if adding in the Astro Gaming MixAmp into the mix for the virtual surround sound would improve upon this trait..

With that, I ordered a cheap portable amplifier upon recommendation of my friend, the FiiO E5 amplifier from dealextreme.com. Right now, I awaits the arrival of the unit to my doorstep and hoping to get more out of this phone soon.

I'll update how its like once I get the unit (along with first-time experience with the ill-rumored Customs checkup)~

First Post: Intro

Here I am, typing away what may seem to be my first post for this blog of mine while keeping a watchful eye on what supposed to be my night job in real life. Lively, yet relaxing... with a hint of vanilla bouquet aroma in the air. Nice.

Putting that aside, you might be wondering why would such a guy like me would partake in this blogging business. Besides, it's not like I got a lot of time in my hands. Well, not like all of you know me that well at this point anyways. One of my friends suggested that, after my musing of topics that led from one thing to another, told me to start up a blog where I could share it to more people at a lower talking rate (make that typing rate in this case). So here I am.

I'd be posting things that goes from personal musing to thoughts while also sharing my findings in the Internet and also in the real life for you to spread upon. Well, there's also that personal wish list thing but never mind. I'll keep in short; Its called 'touch base' for a reason.

There you go, my first post into the blogging world. Huzzah!! Don't forget to leave some comments down below. First commenter will be entitled to say "YAY FIRST POST!!"~

(Pun not intended)
